What size fits me?

Important: Our sizes cannot be compared with ready-to-wear sizes. It is very important that you take your measurements before you start.

  • Tie a tight threat around your waist and pin the ends together.
  • Take notes of your body measurements and use the measurement table to determine your sewing pattern size.
  • Compare your body measurements with the table measurements. Your measurements may vary between different sizes. Choose the size closest to your measurements.
  • Choose tops (for example dress, blouse, or jacket) according to the size of your bust; pants and skirts according to the size of your hips/waist.
  • Always compare the body measurements with the table measurements, never with the paper pattern pieces. All pattern pieces already include a comfortable allowance.
  • Are you taller or shorter? You can alter small differences directly on the paper pattern piece.

How to take measurements:

It is best to take your measurements directly on your underwear. Wear a bra that fits. The waist band should not be too tight around the waist (it must still be possible to adjust it).

  • Full body length: From to toe.
  • Bust: Over the fullest part of the chest. The measuring tape should be placed horizontally around the body.
  • Waist: Measure at the waist. The tape should be at the level of your navel. Add 2 cm if you prefer a looser fit.
  • Hips: Place the measuring tape around the widest part of your buttocks. The measuring tape should be placed horizontally around the body.
  • Back length: Measure from the bottom of the neck (protrudes slightly) to your waist.
  • Upper arm circumference: Place the measuring tape around the widest part of the upper arm.

Time to get sewing! Sewing instructions

The sewing pattern includes 1 cm seam allowance. Use carbon copying paper to transfer the pattern pieces to the wrong side of the fabric.

  • STEP 1

Iron the interfacing onto the wrong side of the pattern pieces marked in grey.

  • StEP 2

Fold and sew the darts on the front and back pieces. Iron the bust darts up and iron the waist darts towards the respective center of the front and back pieces.

  • StEP 3

On the ruffle trimmings, iron 1 cm of the long edge A of the seam allowance to the wrong side. Fold in the allowance to half the width and topstitch it narrowly in place.

  • STEP 4

Gather the long edge B of the ruffles. To do this, sew two parallel rows of long stitches (4 – 5 mm). Pull the threads until the length of the ruffle trimmings matches the length of edge B of the front piece.

  • Schritt 5

Lay the ruffles on edge B of the front pieces, right side on wrong side. Pin the ruffles, including the short ruffle edges along the front edge and along the allowance of the shoulder seam.

  • STEP 6

Sew the front yokes to the front pieces, right sides together, the ruffles are sewn in between. Iron the seam allowances into the yoke. Topstitch the yoke narrowly from the outside along the seam.

  • SCHRITT 7

    Sew shoulder seams together.

  • STEP 8

Cut 2 pieces each of 22 (23) 24 (25) 26 (27) cm off the rubber band. Pin the ends of the rubber band to the side allowances of the sleeve above the marked stitching line. Sew the stretched rubber band onto the sleeves. Secure the seam ends.

  • STEP 9

Sew the sleeves to the armholes. The mark at the top shaping of the sleeve meets the shoulder seam, the asterisked mark of the sleeve meets the asterisked mark of the front piece. Iron the seam allowances into the front and back pieces. Topstitch the seam narrowly.

  • STEP 10

Sew the sleeve and side seams together.

  • STEP 11

Hem the lower edge of the blouse and sleeves as described in step 3.

  • STEP 12

Sew the button plackets to the front edges of the front pieces, right sides together. The seam allowance of the placket projects at the bottom. Iron the seam allowance to the wrong side. Iron also the seam allowance of the other long placket to the wrong side. At the hem, fold the placket, right sides together, topstitch the bottom edge of the placket. Trim the seam allowance at the corner. Turn and iron the placket. Pin the inside edge over the seam. Topstitch the placket narrowly, stitching the inner edge in place.

  • STEP 13

Sew one part of the collar to the neckline, right sides together, with the collar seam allowance protruding at the front. Cut back the seam allowances and iron into collar. On the other part of the collar, iron the bottom edge allowance inwards.

  • SCHRITT 14

Hem one long edge of the ruffled collar as described in step 3. Gather the other long edge of the ruffled collar. Pin the ruffle between the cross stitches (mark K) to the upper edge of the collar, right sides together. The ends of the ruffle should narrow towards the front.

  • STEP 15

Pin the second part of the collar over the ruffle, right sides together. Stitch the collar together, the ruffle is sewn in between. Cut back the seam allowances. Turn the collar, iron. Pin the inner edge of the collar over the seam. Topstitch the collar narrowly, fixing the inner edge of the collar.

  • StEP 16

At the collar, mark one buttonhole crosswise, as drawn. At the right button placket, mark the upper buttonhole lengthwise, as drawn. Below it, mark 6 more buttonholes at intervals of 8.5 (8.6) 8.8 (8.9) 9 (9.1) cm. Sew the buttonholes. Sew the buttons on the other collar end and left front piece.
